Howard M. Kaplan
Center Advancing Sustainable Architecture

Mr. Kaplan is an architect and Co-Director of CASA. Throughout his 40 year career he has been actively involved in the "Green" building movement. He is most recently a member of the following organizations and committees promoting green, energy efficient buildings:

* Co-founder of the New Mexico Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC-NM)
* Past-President and Board Member of the New Mexico Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC-NM)
* Member of Governor Richardson's Climate Change Advisory Group
* Member of the New Mexico Public Schools Clean Energy Task Force
* Member of the City of Albuquerque LEED Task Force
* Member of the Clean Energy Advocacy Steering Committee.


Peter Yost

Peter Yost is the Director of Residential Services for BuildingGreen, LLC in Brattleboro, Vermont. He has been building, researching, teaching, writing, and consulting on high performance homes for more than twenty years. His expertise ranges from construction waste management and advanced framing to energy efficiency and building durability. Peter is currently Technical Director for GreenBuildingAdvisor.com, an instructor for the Boston Architectural College's Sustainable Design Certificate program and an adjunct faculty member of the University of Massachusetts Department of Building Materials and Wood Technology program in Amherst.

Background

Steve Brauneis has worked in sustainable building design, corporate sustainability program development and implementation, eco-efficiency program design & implementation, sustainable building material purchasing, construction, and environmental education.
Past Projects

Mr. Brauneis was the Director of Sustainability for a mid-size chain of lumberyards, his responsibilities included evaluation of all company inputs and consumables including, products for sale, vehicles, energy and fuels, lighting, solid waste and building operations and design. He was the LEED project manager for construction of the Gold-certified Hayward Building Systems production and office facility. Operational efficiency and profitable green product line management were his focus. Outreach efforts included green building workshops for internal sales force and professional contractors.
